As others have said, hotel yes, their rags and their bucket and warm soapy water while the Ol is soapin and shinin up leaves me time for my other ride. Tentn it, just a bottle of Plexus or McGuires Mist n Shine and a micro-towel for the fairing and windsheild and then a touch of Pledge afterwards makes all the nasties wipe off easier later.

I do plenty of riding, thanks. Road debris isn't going to magically rub itself into the paint and I have no plan to do it either.

Whether I'm on a 200 mile ride or an 8,000 mile ride, I think I can wait till I get home to clean and detail it.

Speaking of "show" bikes, who cares how your bike looks if you're on a "6000 to 8000 mile ride"? I know I don't.

If, on the other hand, you have a "show" bike you might not want to do any 6000 to 8000 mile rides........

I take those & one of their plastic waste baskets full of water & give at least the windshield a warm water bath as I'm packin' up the next morning. Usually I wipe down most of the bike. I start the day with at least a clean windshield, & often a reasonably clean bike. Big difference between crawlin' out of a tent without a shower to ride off on a dirty bike, & comin' out of a room fresh from a mornin' shower & startin' the day with a clean bike.
This is pretty much the way I travel.

It's hard to do,but if you pull into a do it yourself carwash and let the bike cooldown that's what i try to do.

I wash my bike one a year when I put it away for the winter. My bikes are to ride, not to look at.
