For all who posted cleaning techniques - thanks. I may just have to use them between patina's.
It boils down to YOU.....
Some folks clean because they can't stand a dirty bike
Some folks clean beacuse they're up, and no one else is ready
Some folks clean when the bike gets TOO nasty
Some folks clean every morning, and night
Some folks never clean their bike

it's YOUR bike.... enjoy it how you will.

stay at 'bike friendly" places.... you will need to wipe the seat dry each morning... bike friendly places, usually have cleaning "rags" to wipe off the dew. Most of them will be happy to allow you use of a bucket, and hose.

Agree with Jinks. Waste basket in motel room is good bucket, water is usually available, just clean up after yourself. don't have to do a detail wash, just get the majority of the road grime off. Cheap towels also easily available at local walmart for a buck sumthin. And always ask first, assure the manager you will not use their good towels.
Just feels better to start the day's ride with a clean bike.

I use a microfiber towel and the motel rooms waste basket with warm water to get the worst of it off. Usually doing it while I am waiting on the boss. Far from the detail it would get at home.

No way would I ever use a hotel waste basket as a bucket to wash my bike. God knows how much dirt and crap gets transferred to the cloth and ends up scratching the paint. I wait till I get home and do it right.

When I'm done with these two in the morning I let them out to wash my bike before I hit the road. Oh yeah....they still have to fetch me breakfast too!

The waste basket in the hotel is a good idea. Hotels usually line their small waste baskets with new garbage liners. Fill the liner with the water.

I'm an early riser so I usually give mine a good wipe down before a ride while everyone else is getting ready.

Maybe if I'm near the beach and salt air, or it has to be really REALLY dirty.
Otherwise washing it will wait until I get home.
