Default It's funny but my mech. just told me to watch my front bearings.

I didn't think much of it only that it was odd for him to mention that. Now I know why. I have 64000k (41000miles) and no indication of a problem until two days ago (3days ago had a full service) Getting just a hint of a sound from the front end that wasn't there before. My imagination playing tricks on me? The day after the recall went out for the brake light switch, mine failed. Just wish I could have the same timing with my loto numbers.

HD is presently advertising, on their website, 100,000 mile bearings on the new 2013 Touring bikes. They must of done something to the bearings. As far as I can tell the bearing part #'s are the same for 09 to 13 wheels. Rumour has it HD bought the 09 bearings from some Chinese manufacturer. Apparently they were inferior and the new bearings are supposed to be better quality.

SKF has a bearing to replace the bearings on non-ABS bikes and the one side of the ABS bike. The bearing on the ABS pickup side, is only available from HD. This bearing has notches in it for the ABS magnetic pickup.
I was wondering, where on the website did you find that they say about the 100,000 mile wheel bearings?

I saw it on the US site when I was looking at the EGlides Police Specials.

I just replaced my right front wheel bearing. 60,000 miles. I had a shake in my handle bars. Just made it to my dealer (Folsom California Best dealer in Northern California). I jacked up my bike and checked it the night before. I had a little movement in the front wheel when grabbing it from side to side, but nothing visible. My dealer is 40 miles away. By the time I got there you could see a major difference in the space around the shaft. The good thing is it was covered in the warranty. The bike rides like a new bike. Who knows how long that was wearing out.

for those that have Harleys ESP you get up to a 10 day free rental when your bike is in for warranty work

I haven't seen that on the paperwork, but then again there is a lot of fine print.

I have an '09 FLHTCU with less then 10K on it. I swear that I can hear a howl coming from the front when powering up or coasting to a slow roll. No vibration, no wobble and no grinding, just the howl. Front tire is cupping badly. Can't see any obvious failure yet. So, was there a service bulletin? Who picked up the tab for the repair? What about the tire and the cupping issue? Did the MoCo replace the tire

The front tire for 2009 is a recall my dealer called me in so they could change it. I have spokes and the wheel bearings were ok.

I had the tire replaced under warranty, due to cupping. The wheel bearings was ESP while doing the front tire. $50.00 for the parts and labor.

Mine howled also but I only noticed it in a sweeping turn. Sounded like a four wheel drive with big tires. It also did it when the rear started cupping.
