Exclamation Stuff in your hard bags

Recent topic such as tools to carry got me wondering how many folks realize the hard bags have a recommended weight load of 15 pounds. I know I have exceeded it numerous times but just wanted to throw that out there.

I saw the limit. Normally my bags just have a tool kit, some papers, a rain suit and medical kit. Way less than 15 lbs. I may have overloaded it on a tip but didnt weight the stuff to see. If I remember correctly the luggage rack on my bike is 10 lbs.

There is also a weight limit on the bike as a whole. I've passed that limit almost every time I loaded it up for a weekend trip. Man, I need to drop a few pounds. LOL.

Always make sure your hard bags are secure too, against falling off with those silly druse clips and also against theft.

Now I am wondering what dictates the weight load. Is it the support bracket/arms, the clips, whatever???? Hmmmmm...

I exceed the "recomended" max weight every time I go on a long trip. No problems, no worries.

The boxes are supported fairly well from below so they could easily hold alot more weight. The spring locks are a joke though.

I can see 30 pounds no sweat in each.
