clinking sound from front of motor
#21
If you hear a sound like clacking (clackity clack ) on the left side , have the compensater bolt checked to see if it's loose (mine was) at 6,000 miles.
I also had a really bad bang type noise every so often when hitting a small bump which ended up being the 2 lowest fairing screws near the lower triple tree , they had loosened and made noise totally out of proportion to their size.
Check the jiffy stand hardware for loose fasteners also.
Just what I've noticed so far......

I have an 09 ultra and just noticed a clinking sound coming from the front part of the motor. sounds sort of like a metal clink like when a stone hits a metal part of the bike. only notice the sound when in 5th or 6th gear and accelerating going anywhere between 60 and 80 mph. what could this be.

It is "pinging".. And you need to be using 91 or greater octane...With all the ethanol and junk going into gas, I would venture to say that 91 isn't even 91 anymore, probably less.
Also, make sure when you accelerate you are not below 2000 RPM, lugging the engine will also cause pinging and damage.

Didnt go to dealer yet. did try running 93 octane ran 2 tanks thru and still does this.if it is octane grade maybe it takes some more tanks full to stop pinging.will let you know what i figure out.

looked that over already when i was checking every thing to see if something was loose. the only thing loose was the three screws that hold the windshield on. and the kick stand seems to be real floppy. Did think of something else it might be my guardian bell i have right on the front frame bouncing up hitting the frame. will try that.and see
