Default Gas Tank Rub marks on an Ultra

Hey guys,
I'm looking at doing the quick release tour pak on my 07 Ultra. I'll be punting the hidden antenna's under the fairing. For the wiring, I'm adding Deutsch & Multilock connectors inline under the seat to make the connections easy.

But when I remove my Ultra seat, I have some paint rub marks where it looks like the seat has been rubbing on the tank.

I wanted to go with a Road King or Streetglide solo seat, or low profile seat, but these rub spots will show. I would like to be able to go back and forth between the two seats.

Has anyone else run into these rub marks? If so what did you do?
I see HD makes a FLHT/FLTR Trim Piece 52447-96 (see attached pic)
Has anyone used one of these and did it hide the rub marks?
Thanks.

If the rubs aren't too bad try polishing them out the best you can then apply a couple pieces of 3M clear bra to the area.

Yep, or you can use the HD scratch & swirl polish - worked on my 09 SG.

Best protection is the Harley tank bra.

I just got home and wiped the tank clean, it looks like I may be able to polish the blemished areas out. Then protecting them with paint protective sounds like a good idea.
Have any of you used a Ultra seat on a Streetglide?
I'm thinking of putting the longer gas tank console on, and would like to use the Ultra seat for two up riding.

go get yourself a clay bar kit at autozone/advanced and try that. i had a bunch of stuff in my paint when i got it and it took it right out. just make sure you have some good wax to put back on. it takes all the **** outa the clear coat and removes all the wax too so you will need to re apply when finished. i just did mine again this afternoon and still got stuff out from the first time i did it.

Install a tank bra. I think I may be doing this.

FWIW, some sign shops use a clear, static-cling sign material that works well to protect areas of the fender and tank. Many of these shops will give away scrap pieces.

I use the stuff on the sides of my '08 UC's gas tank. I cut a piece for each side that very closely follows the pinstripe and is nearly invisible.

Have used Meguires Scratch remover for this kind of stuff. Unless its it's real bad, this stuff will clean it up.
