Default Tranny Leak

Spent four days last week in Panama City Beach for Thunder Beach. Had a great time as usual. Put around 700 miles on the bike. Got home and noticed fluid under the bike when unloading the bags. Wipe it,smell it....tranny fluid. Made a pretty good mess underneath so I'll have to clean it up to tell where it's coming from. I'm guessing tranny seal or shifter shaft. Guess it's time to tear into the primary and replace all the seals. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Are you sure it ain't just coming from the vent tube? That's pretty common if the bike gets run hard and is slightly overfilled.

That was the first place I looked. The vent tube is clean and no fluid anywhere around the tube either. I was sure hoping that was the culprit.

Get it good and cleaned up, then ride it for a bit to see if you can isolate the leak.

I think it's the shifter shaft seal. There's fluid up there and it wouldn't migrate up from the shaft seal. I'm still going to clean it up good and then I'll know for sure.

I have the same problem showing up on my 08. It is the shifter shaft seal leaking. I have a few miles left until it is due for the 15k ck. HD can fix it then.

The stock shift shaft seals are junk.
I will be having mine replaced for the fourth time under warranty,48000 miles.
