funny this post is here... i was out riding with some friends today and my wife mentioned that shed like a wider seat back there. it just so happened that one of my riding buddies has the Sundowner on his 01 RKC.

so- she jumped on his bike for a few miles and decided thats what she wants!

the only thing she said was that her feet didnt touch the floorboards, lol... shes only 5'0" but i assured her that i could raise my floorboards and shed be a-ok with the sundowner, backrest and adjustment.

Can anyone comment on the Comfort Stitch seat for RK? The passenger seat is 16" wide vs. only 12" on the RKC Sundowner.

 

I had the Sundowner Solo installed before I left the dealership. I kept the stock seat for 2 up riding.
I have been informed if I want any more companship, I'd better get a better seat..........LOL

I and my wife enjoyed the Sundowner seat when I had my roadking. One of the best changes I made to the bike.

 

I went with the comfort stitch on my Classic as it had the widest passenger pillion of the Harley seats. My wife absolutely loves it, and if it wasn't for that seat I would not be able to get her on the bike. It is a large rear pillion, so it does look a little funky when you pull your back rest off for a solo ride, but when I do that, I just pop the stock seat on real quick. One thing to mention about these seat swaps.... the passenger pillions are taller and as a result, my wife found that the backrest was too low on her back after the seat swap. This is true, the back rest pad sat right on the top of the seat. Luckily, HD has come out with a taller back rest upright in the last few months and I went with that. It raised the backrest up 2 1/2 inches, which doesn't sound like much, but made a huge difference for my wife. She loves the seat and backrest combo now, and she is not a small woman.

You mentioned your wife likes the comfort stitch. Does she sit higher where the wind get in her face, does it anoy her? Thanks for your opinion of the seat and backrest, it's helping me deside on a seat.

I see that you have the Sundowner Solo on your RK I have a 06 RK Std and I always ride solo and was wandering how you liked it.

What do you have in the space where the passenger seat would be? I took off my stock passenger seat and don't really care for the look of the open space it leaves.
