Default 09 New Tire Option

Is there any other choice besides the HD Dunlop 408/407?

I don't know if there are any better tires out there yet for the 09+ bikes, but I'm really happy with the 408 front and 407 rear tires. I got close to 15K out of my rear tire, and could have had more if I didn't pick up a nail. Could probably got close to 18K.

Yeah Chris I am evry happy with the wear on these but just dont like being forced to go to dealer to get a new set, got a indy here that can do the change free if I order tires from them, seems I read that HD had exclusive agreement with Dunlop though. I had 17k on first tire set, cant complain at all on wear.

I got 20k on my first set of front/rear tires on my '09 RK so couldnt ask for much better. The front should have gone a bit more but 20k on a rear tire is excellent so it's a trade-off I guess.

I'm surprised that nobody has come out with a competitor yet for these 09+ Touring models. Very slow response by the market or no???

The Dunlop American Elite's are supposed the be the same tire but without the name "Harley Davidson" on 'em.

A Google search turned a few places to get them. Dennis Kirk was "out of stock" and J&P said "coming soon" but Thornton says they have 'em stock as near as I can tell.

I've been keeping an eye on the new Dunlop American Elites also , they look good and the load range on them looks proper for our bikes.
I had looked at the Metzler Marathon (non radial) and thought about going slightly larger in the front , Metzler doesn't seem to have a comparable front size but their 140-80-17 load ranges about right.
I'm kinda leaning towards the Dunlop American Elites though if they're available this summer.
No narrow white walls , but I'll live...........
