Hello,
so far I've planned on going HID on my 09 FLHX. But the HD solution is $$ in Canada and the high beam is hallogen, not HID like I'd have thought. So, I'm going to look for a H4 HID system.
SO, I thought I'd ask about who has tried HID and HID auxilry. As well what your experience and make manufacturer you tried, or stayed with.
Thanks

I have the Harley HID kit and don't recommend it. As you say it is expensive, but it also gives poor performance, although it is good as a daytime light.
There is a good reason for it having a halogen high beam, which is that HID lights take some time to warm up so are not suitable. The only way an HID lamp can be used for high is with some sort of moving parts in the lamp, so the bulb stays lit all the time.
The Drag Specialties kit looks good value, although I like the space-age style of the Future Vision Philips! However it is described amongst other things as having:
"Super sharp cut-off on the low beam reduces glare significantly over standard reflector based headlights. The built in Bi-Xenon Projector extends the light super far when required while mantaining a flood of light directly in front of the vehicle."
The sharp cutoff of my Harley lamp is a disadvantage. The light is so intense it is like looking out under a black velvet curtain, however it does not have a high beam worthy of the name, so is useless on dark roads. At least the Philips claims to be better.
