Default 1000 mile check

Well, I took my new Ultra in for its 1000 mile service today. I cannot believe how well I like this bike. It has surpassed my expectations on every aspect of the bike, except the seat. I also ordered the Road Zeppelin seat today. It should be in by the time I get the bike back. My former bike was a Gold Wing, but I don't think I'll ever own anything else but a Harley from now on. The Harley is so much better. Better balanced, better low and high speed turning and handling, more stability, and a much lower and better center of gravity. I am sold.

Hi Gary - glad you like your bike! I feel the same way about my '05 RK. Started with Hondas, went to a BMW R1100RT back in 2000, then, after 60K on the BMW, bought the RK. Seems to suit my riding ambitions right now - cruise and stay within the speed limit. The RT always "wanted" to be driven 20-30 over the speed limit.

Yeah, the Beemer "wanted to". All kidding aside though, I've been off of the Harley dressers since the 95 Electra Glide Standard and on Buells. Oh yeah, they want to too!!!! But like Gary I'm in LOVE with my new Road Glide! The improvements made since the Evo bikes are tremendous.
Enjoy the bike...I sure am!

DC.

Glad to learn you are enjoying your new Ultra. Took mine in last week for the 1K. I think you are going to like the Road Zep. Start out with the bladders empty. So far, I've not added anything to them, but the longest ride had only been 300 miles. Still, I am pretty impressed with the out of the box comfort.

rgerber,

I went to pick up my bike today, and found out my seat had come in. The only problem was it was the wrong seat. In the blue parts book, they have the same part number for the leather seat and the vinyl seat. I asked for the leather, and the vinyl got ordered. They had to re-order the seat. It should be in next Tuesday or Wednesday. It sure did look good though. I can't wait to try it out. It felt like it is just what I want.

My 1000 mile check cost me 246.00. That was using normal Harley oil. Labor was 199.95. Oil and filter, and other misc. made up the rest. For synthetic oil, labor is 239.95. I don't know why the labor is more. Why is your dealer so high?

One thing that should be mentioned here is to check the fluid levels over after you get the dealer service. It has been a very large problem with many that the levels are shorted ( low) and this could cause damage to your bike. I've heard this from many different sources.
