PCV, warranty

PCV, warranty
I think I know the answer but I will ask anyway, I may be fooled. The dealer tells me that if I were to add a Power Commander V to my Road Glide the warranty would be void should Harley say the cause of the warranty claim would/could/might be the cause of the claim. I am told by the PCV tuner that adding the PCV, it can be changed back to stock with two unplugs and 3 re-plugs and it is back to totally stock so the dealer won't be any the wiser. This may be true but is there a setting in the Harley dealer's diagnostic center that might tell them the mapping has been tampered with? I have already added the PCV and the bike does run cooler and maybe a little more umph I don't really know, it was dyno tuned but I didn't get a start (stock) point, and frankly I don't really care I wanted to get rid of some of the heat. I did add an oil cooler and before I get slammed for that I have had coolers on all my Harley's since 1978, I live in southern Nevada where temperatures get into the high teens in the summer so even if I don't need one it is mental insurance at the very least. I am sure there are some here that have put these aftermarket tuners on there bike before there warranties were up or over have you ever been denied warranty for doing such? Thanks...........bob

The Magnuson-Moss act requires a company to prove that your modification actually caused the problem. You can google it for full details.
That said, I have a PC-V and was concerned, but there is always a dealer that will overlook it, Especially a HD dealer that sells them. Is there a dealer in your region that sells Mastertune or Dynojet products? They cannot narc on you if they sell them...
In any case, I wonder if a search on this board would turn up many, if any, guys that said their warranty was void because of a PC-V. When I asked about this one guy said don't worry as your 2 year warranty will be up in a blink anyway so just ride and don't worry.

Bob......Welcome to the forum from another Robert.
Use search function and try PCV warranty and you should get lots of hits. It is a bully tactic and I hate it everytime I hear it. HD would have to prove that the PCV caused the damage. Not maybe, not "well he mods his bike so he must be a hard rider" type of thing. Also google Magnumson-Moss act and read up on the laws passed, the burden of proof is on the manufacturer.
We just bought a used RKC for my wife and the dealer was good, we liked everyone. At one point as they are dragging us dept-to-dept as they have to do the service mgr started about aftermarket tuners/warranties. I stopped him short and asked we please not have that discussion, it has been a good day and let's not ruin it.
I would (have) add the PCV with confidence if that is what you want to do.
