I looked at them and started one up at a dealer. I like the vintage look and leather bags/seat etc but.... The painted on emblems arent as quality looking as Harleys chrome emblems. (small detail and I know some harleys have that too but don't like it there either) When we started one in the showroom I was dismayed at the sound. If ever there was a "sewing machine" sounding engine this is it!! The guy said it's all the epa crap but that just soured me. Of course that can be modded but $30K plus and have to put pipes on immediately? Honestly I'd rather have a CVO for that money. The indian is a cool bike and I love nostalgia but it's just too much money IMO. Plus the number of indian dealers is few and far between around the country. It would be a great local showoff bike but not very versatile.

The original Indian went out of bidness in 1953. The name was resurrected by some British company, selling rebadged British imports from time to time. The Indian we saw in 2000 was called Gilroy and that was the one that claimed to have brought it back - it had the S&S Evo clone motor. This one currently is several iterations away from the tree that first grew in Springfield Mass and died in 1953. They are Indian in name only, imho.
