It will be interesting to see what HD has to do to pass Euro-4 emissions in 2012 if they don't go water cooling. Upping displacement to make up for another layer of controls is pretty common. Rumor has it BMW has tossed in the towel and is going water cooled on their boxers.

Actually, I could see it happening. Its a good marketing move, "2011 Harleys, Now with bigger motors" With almost every other big cruiser out-displacing them these days, I could see it. And if you think about it, they have a tradition of having one bike kinda be the test bed for something new one year, the next year it goes out in general release. (the Limited)
Bummer is, without the 255 cams, the 103 really ain't that great. If they did the 103 jugs and kept the price the same, great. Something for nothing. If they did it and want to ding you another grand for it, it would suck.
In light of EPA getting tighter, I could also see them doing it, and moving away from engine upgrades. Just have the stock motor 103, and the cams get moved to strictly the Screamin Eagle "Race applications only" parts book.
I could also see them drop the EG Classic, and just keep the Limited and Ultra in the lineup. Maybe throw some extra chrome on the Limited, to better set it apart. I know in my area, you almost have to special order a EG Classic, since 95 percent of buyers in that segment just go for the Ultra.
It wouldn't surprise me if they did it, but it wouldn't surprise me if they DIDNT do it either.

Not buying a pre-release of a 103.... That said I would not be surprized to see a 103 as Standard going forward. It needs to be... and is consistent with what other companies have done in the past. I use to be into Corvettes and much of the technology incorporated in the Vettes gradually became available in the other lines. They have to spike the buyers in some way... the newer style Suspension etc. helped but sales still fell after 2009 with the economy. Works for me.
