2010 Ultra Classic intercom
#11
We love the intercom feature on our Ultra. But, the VOX is difficult to to adjust for all riding conditions. The setting that is easy to use, that is, it opens the intercom when you begin to speak, is when you're going less than 50 mph. Above that, to keep it from opening because wind noise, the setting has to be less sensitive, and so you have to go 'aaahhh" to open, then begin speaking.
We just use the push to talk feature all the time, and don't use VOX, unless we are cruising around town and want to converse about what we're seeing. That isn't very often.

Vox setting
My wife and I use the VOX. She was very nervous about here first ride and the VOX on the Intercom definitely helped. As far as the breakin point for the vox, I found you have to set it to where it is slow to start. After this on one short ride it worked well at all speeds and was not a problem with the delay. I just played with the +/- until we found a sweet spot. I haven't rode in group with it yet, but I suspect some of the riding group I ride with can key the VOX with the Rineharts. Just get in front of them and should work. I like the Rinehart sound so will see how it sounds in the Intercom. I bet it isn't a problem.

Same as the others.. I use it all the time when going on trips. As for the VOX cutting in and out, you just have to find that sweet spot as others mentioned. On windy days it seems to be a bigger pain in the butt than non windy. Also, I noticed that my jackpot mufflers will set it off when I'm getting on the throttle. It still is nice to have to be able to talk to the passenger or use the CB to talk with other riders.
