Beautiful spring day today. My two Fugly Friends and I took a nice ride to check out Outer Banks Bike Week. Breakfast at IHOP, then hit the road...Since this is the first week (FULL WEEK ) of OBX Bike Week I (we) expected a lot of hoop la down there. Maybe later in the week? Most vendors were not out/set up and it was a little disappointing to say the least. We salvaged a great ride with Lunch at the Black Pelican, a favorite dining spot and a secret jewel in Kitty Hawk.

Stop at the Border Station for fuel and water. This place is actually half in Virginia and half in North Carolina. You can get NC Lottery on one side of the store and Va on the other!


The Pelican:If you ever get down that way, don't leave without eating there a few times. It is where the locals go! In this building on December 17, 1903 the Wright Brothers sent the telegram to tell the world of their famed first flight. And you thought HD was the only thing important to come out of 1903!

Nice pics, great area, looks like fun. Rode down last year to meet my brother who lives in SC for a week in the OBX, rented a house on the beach. I agree, Black Pelican rules, our rental was two blocks away.

Looks like fun Mike. I love riding the mountain roads out here but wish there were some beaches close by for a change in scenery occasionally.

Riding in with some friends on Thursday.... then turning around for Raleigh.... kinda boring road-wise..... but riding WITH friends is worth the highway ride home
