Good day
I am in the "risk" business. Most of the answers you have are correct. That is because there are many things to consider. Where you hurt? Was anyone else hurt?
Submit a claim, in writing , to Dairyland (which is not a fly by night carrier). See what they officially tell you. Also, submit a claim in writing to the carrier of the auto that hit you. If you don't know it, get the police report, which you will need anyway. Keep track of all claim numbers and use them in correspondence
Insurance is a state governed item. So, if you have a dispute with Dairyland submit a claim to your state's. Dept. of Insurance. Note that most auto/cycle policies have an arbitration provision.so that is where the ultimate dispute will end up. Don't rely on phone calls, get everything in writing
You won't need an attorney until after you get the written response from Dairlyland.
With the claim to the auto carrier, give a copy of the police report. That will speed things up.
An attorney will do all the things I just told you. Remember with Dairyland you probably will have to pay a deductible, not with the causation vehicle's insurance.
And do the claim to both insurance companies together. No need to wait for the response from Dairyland.,
Hope this helps
