Default My First Paint Nick!!!

Well,, the RK is 2 weeks old and last night I chipped the paint on the top of the tank near the saddle. I was adjusting the bars and dropped the allen wrench. i know, shoulda had something to protect the tank, but.....The chip is about 3/16" diameter and all the way down to the primer. Any ball park ideas about $$$$ to fix this?

At leat I won't work on the bike again without protection!!

Man, I know that nick makes You sick, It would Me. The only I can think of would be to check with HD for touch up paint, or take it to a good painter for advice. Good Luck!

Buy touchup and try yourself with a toothpick. If it doesnt look good, call for some estimates. Unless youve got experience, I wouldnt go any further. Youll most likely make it worse. (been there) Either way, you can always take it in.

No paint like the factory paint. Just patch it. And admit you have the first one out of the way. I feel your pain

I did the same type of thing to the tank of my four week old Ultra Limited, chipped it right down to the primer but at least no ding in the metal. Took it to shop recommended by my dealer. They are going to repair the chip and then clear coat the whole tank again for about $125. Waiting to see the finished product and final bill but would not attempt to feather in and re-paint it myself. I feel your pain.

Probably cost $300 plus to have it repaired beyond detection. There are outfits out there that do same day repair. My dealer just had to pay someone to fix a fender they managed to damage the paint on. I suggest you ask who your dealer uses. What color are we talking about?

Thanks for the quick responses. the color is White Gold Pearl. No dent, just the paint. I actually found the paint chip on the garage floor. I put a magnetic bullet hole over it for now and I don't feel so bad. Will get recommendations from the dealer.

Do you have any pin strippers in your area? These guys can do wonders, add a little something at the same time.
