Default 500 or 1000 miles?

When is the first service really suppose to be? The stealership want me in there at 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, 7500..... But in the owners manual it looks like the first service is at 1000. What's correct?

Thanks in advance

If the 500 mile service is free, do it. Otherwise, go by the Book.

Of course they do. They make their living on service fees. Go by the book. And run synthetic early on. You may want to look for a new place to get your service done. Better yet, buy the service manual and do it yourself. It's much more rewarding and you'll always know it was done by the book.

A look see at 500 miles is OK if all you do is ride it. The fluids should be changed at 1K and a complete service done then.

If they want to change the engine oil at 500 miles, and it is free, do it. Otherwise follow what the MoCo says in your owners manual.

Service at every 2500 miles is overkill.

Thanks for the input guys. This is what I thought as well but figured I'd double check with the group at large.
