Default Cam Tensioner parts list. Please

Hi again. Same old topic I know. Just want to get a clear picture, and list of things needed for a updating my 05 Ultra. It has 36k miles, and should be ready to do tensioner upgrade. I may change cams also. I have not opened the case yet. I would like to make it a one time only trip in the motor, and to town for the parts. Should be able to do this in maybe 8 hours? I am a automotive engine builder for drag cars for 40 years, so I am able to turn some wrenches. Thanks for the help. I did just get a parts catalog from Andrews Products. Like to get all the parts at one time. Dont want the bike tied up to long.
Thanks
Jim

Depends. Reusing stock pushrods and going through the rockers or cutting out the old ones and installing EZ install adjustables? Doing the conversion cam route with the conversion kit or SE upgrade kit?

I will go with the adj, push rods, this bike is usally riding two up and highway miles. Would like cams with increased mid range power increase. Just wondering what would be all around good package, cams, conversion kit, adj. push rods, etc. and any special tools I may need.
Thanks

Up to you, but I'd reuse the stock rods and go through the rocker boxes. If you went conversion cams, I'd give John Wadsworth (Herko) a shout. He puts together an entire kit with everything you need right down to the loctite. He even throws in cracker jacks and chocolates! You only have to choose which cam you want. If you were to go that route, I'd go with something like the Andrews 26N. You do know that if you change the cam you will need a tuner? Anyhow, if you go the SE route, I would go with something like the SE204 or a Tman or Woods comparative cam. Whichever route you decide, I can throw together a complete parts list as to which way you are going.

I have everything you need for sale in the classifieds except for pushrods. I have a set of SE203s with tensioners etc. I bought everything for a cam switch, but found out it already had the SE203s in her and I just didnt have the right tune. Bike runs nice now and now need to down shift to pass. I can tell you, its worth it!

Instead of messing with those crappy tensioners, why not upgrade to a gear set? No chain or tensioners to mess with and gain a few horses to boot.

Thumbs up American Classic Motors (PA)

I got a whole kit from American Classic Motors (PA) for $700. It included gear drive Andrews 21, new Torrington inner/outer cam bearings, new lifters, Andrews adjustable pushrods, and gaskets. It worked out really well. Just make sure your pinion runout is less than about .003" if you want to go gear drive.

The front head pipe doesn't have to come off - just loosen & slide it forward a bit. The only "special tools" I needed was the tapered bolts to center the oil pump. Check out my photo album for pictures w/comments: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/membe...04-flhrci.html
