Maybe I've Been Lugging It All The Time
#21
That's funny, I can ride all day at 60 mph in 6 gear with 87 octane, no noise, no complaints from the engine. Even accelerate from that, no lug on my '08 96".
OP, What gas are you puttin in your scoot?
You might just have a bike that likes RPM.
Everything has a tolerance.
Some bikes like 93 octane, some run fine with 87.

Yes, you are lugging it. I don't use 6th gear unless I am on the interstate and doing at least 70. You might also want to know this. Lugging an engine will produce carbon buildup on your pistons and valves. This buildup of carbon creates more problems with the squish area in the combustion chamber. Eventually by lugging an engine you can expect your motor to need engine work sooner, rather than later. JMO
