Not Digging it!
Installed my Monster Ovals, PCV and stage 1 AC last night and took it for a run this morning.. Not likeing the sound of the Monster Ovals very much. They sound nice and deep but are just not loud enough for my likeing. Thinking of selling them and getting something else but not sure what to get? I had some V&H big radius on my fatboy and loved the sound of them. Is there anyone out there that is looking for some New Vance and Hines Monster Ovals? Thanks and be safe guys.

The Monsters will never have the sound of the Big Radius pipes from your Fatboy but they aren't supposed to. Part of the difference is that the Monsters are Touring Mufflers and the other major difference is they exit the rear of the bike as opposed to the side under your ear. If you are happy with the sound but want more volume I would suggest a set of Tru-dual headpipes. I just installed a set of Vance & Hines Dresser Duals a few weeks ago and it really woke up the Monster Ovals, not obnoxiously loud but definitely meaner.

True duals and slash cuts is what my buddy said sounds good too.. Im gonna wait till I hear and see them before buying anything else. (should have done that to start with huh?) In the mean time I am taking off the Monster ovals and selling them so, if anyone is interested in a new set PM me. Price is $600 obo. I live in KS and would meet someone if needed or will work out something on shipping.

if you're trying to decide on which mufflers you'd like, the best suggestion i've heard is to go to a large harley shop and sit outside on saturday and listen to the bikes as they come in or leave. that's what convinced me to use rinehart slip ons, cause of the sound, and they flowed pretty well also, with nothing interrupting flow. more of just a glass pack than anything. i sold them a month or two ago to a friend and replaced them with a two into 1 pipe, my friend who bought them, a neighbor, is quite happy with the rineharts i sold him. mufflers are like about anything. you'll know when you hear the mufflers you like. by the way, i was stationed at fort riley after returning from the nam, but all was well cause i still had my 53 panhead.
