Leather saddlebag treatment?
Hey I was about to polish my RK for the first time and I was wonderin what the best way to take care of the leather was... A guy I ride with was tellin me to wash, then lexol leather cleaner and a follow up with high grade black shoe polish to take care of the slight clouding around the threads on the bags. Just wantin some input from some pros. Thanks yall

The clear leather treatment that HD sells works great! If they are scratched, use the black they sell first and follow up with the clear. Put the clear stuff on and don't be afraid to lay it on really heavy. Wait about 24 hours and wipe off the excess and youre done. It makes them water resistant and they look good as new. A tub of it only costs about $8 and it will do your bags several times and you probably only need to do them once a year or so. I use the stuff on my boots as well. Really good stuff.

I knew there was something I wanted to do on this rainy day. For water protection I use Harley leather dressing, do not use saddle soap. Work this into the leather. Bugs and deris will easily come off with a damp cloth after you apply this. From J&P cycle purchased Chelsea leather food and instead of boot polish use this, boot polish, kiwi, would probably work as well to cover scratches.

+1 on the Doc Bailey's leather black, it's a conditioner & it has the black coloring already in it. It works great on anything black, from leather coats & boots to bags, I used it on my RKC bags & they looked new at 80K miles. The nice thing is if you rub it in well the black won't rub off on anything, it's at most rallys or just google Doc Baileys.
