How about climbing back on your ride. I saw a patrolman mount from the right side. Always from the left for me.
Motor Patrol officers are trained to mount and dismount on the right side so on a traffic stop they aren't getting off on the "traffic side". As for fueling, I always get off. And, since a issue once with the pump handle being left in the "locked on" position and my scoot getting a gasoline shower, I always place the nozzle in the tank opening first then start the pay at the pump routine of swiping the card and selecting the fuel type.
I sit on mine when I refuel. I commute to work on my bike and I only get 3 days worth of fuel and I'm on fumes on the third day. I want as much fuel as possible in the tank and I can get more in when it is straight up/level.
Fuel cap is on the right so that it's at the top of the tank when on the side stand. Not sure how you'd get more fuel in it if it was level. Am I missing something?
Road Kings, Softails, Dynas, have the cap on the right side. Glides (Street, Road, Electra) have the cap in the center under the console.
i've never fueled while sitting on the seat. i've had it splash out too many times and run down the tank. then you'd have a saturated pair of jeans, looking for an opportunity to catch on fire???? i cannot imagine anyone fueling while sitting on their bike for that exact reason.
