Default '09 Ultra - Pipe burns

I have an '09 Ultra Classic. My problem is I have a bad right knee which forces me to mount from the right side and I've already ruined a pair of rain pants and a pair of insulated winter pants from melt down on the pipe just behind the right side floor board. Does anyone know where I might find a guard that will cover that area of the pipe?

See if you can find a local seamstress to put heat shields on the inside of your pants. I melted the inner thigh on my older Gerbing suit, and they added heat shielding for a nominal charge.

Look under the stickys, one of the sponsors makes a guard. I believe it is www.bitchin-guard.com.

Simple solution if it will work for you. Try placing your right foot on the right footboard and lean over the bike slightly and throw you left leg over. I've done it just palying around.

I am short and have burnt a couple of items on the same place. I have a winter suit that I burnt so I took an old pair of jeans cut a piece off of the leg and sewed it where the burn is, now if it touches it doesn't melt on the pipes.

Default solutions

Thanks for the suggestions. I already have another pair of rain pants and hopefully I won't be needing the insulated ones for a while. I found some info on this site about a catalyst located in the problem area on certain bikes. How can I tell if my bike has the catalyst? I might just replace it if it does.

Some California bikes have the catalyst and 2010 touring bikes have them. Hope that helped. Have a good-un.
