Default CRAPPY SEARS JACK! (the red one)

I decided to do the Shockproof heavy tranny fluid and like everyone else i was definitely satisfied. But, once I refilled the tranny, I decided to put the bike on my jack to level the bike and check the tranny fluid level. I slid the jack under the bike and started jacking the thing up. NOTHING! Dang jack wont lift itself much less the bike. I know you get what you pay for but I've only had the jack maybe 2 years and I bet I haven't used it 10 times. Anybody know where I can get a replacement cylinder? Any help would be appreciated!

i heard once that it was really hard on those cylinders if you leave your jack in a cold garage for the winter that it shortens the life of the cylinder not sure if its true maybe

I was looking at jacks a few years ago and read about the Sears jack on their web site. The feedback left by others is the same as you describe and no repair kits, no refunds. I bought the HD hand crank jack. No hydraulics to go bad and well made.

I had mine just over a year (convienently just out of warranty) when it started leaking oil BAD out of the pump cylinder. Out to the local Sears I went and after 30 minutes of him being both online and on the phone he tells me "We can't get that part for your lift. We can get you the whole jack". I don't need the whole damn jack, I just need this cap and seal for the the actuator cylinder (the little cylinder that, with the foot pedal, pumps up the jacks lift cylinder). The manufacturer has to have that part to build the stupid jack but they can't get the part for me to repair their POS! How f'd up is that?!?!?

I have the Harbor freight which is virtually the same and have used it for nearly 5 years without an issue. Maybe HF has the bottle jack portion of the lift.

Easy enough - put a new bottle-jack in it. They're cheap and easy to find at Harbor Freight (or any tool section at Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears, etc.)

I've had the Sears Red Jack for about 7 years and I have had no problems with it. Not one. Did you check the fluid level? I'm not sure how you do that, but it is hydraulic so there must be a place to add it.

Already thought about that but the piece on the bottle jack that engages with the lift is welded to the top of the lift cylinder. Plus the thing ought to work longer than that before it starts leaking as bad as it is. Seems some on here have used theirs for years without incident. Maybe I just got a lemon that was built on Friday afternoon. Just my luck!
