I ride an older RK and a 03 Classic and those fork deflectors work great. On the RK almost no wind cruising at 70-75. Have them on the Classic and almost no wind. Not positive that they will work with lowers.

Maybe I'm lucky, but I've never had buffeting so bad I felt compelled to post about it. Some highways have no real divider between the opposite direction lanes other than a jersey barrier or something of that nature. Those type of roads will provide all kinds of buffeting when you're riding past big trucks going in the opposite direction. There's no fairing baffle or windshield that's gonna block that kind of buffeting. I presume we're not talking about that kind of buffeting.

But if you're riding alone, no other traffic nearby in either direction, and you're getting your head knocked around, then you've got an issue.

what works for me? 8" clearview with recurve on a detach batwing, fairing lowers. Half helmet. I'm looking well over my windshield. No fork baffles, chrome wing thingys or flappy fairing louver doodads. I tend to ride fairly fast 75-80 or so on the freeways, and am quite comfortable.

So again, also with BMW it's relative
I agree. The GS's have buffeting. The RT's and GT's I've ridden do not...

Now, if I could just make those fork wind deflector thingies look good...

In your case, that's not buffeting - That's jet wash.

I had the Fork Wind Deflectors on my RK Custom, fugly! Looked like a pissed off grimlin. I didnt have spot lights, If I had I think it would have flowed better and probably not looked so bad. A friend of mine now has them on his EG, with spots, and they look great on his bike. It flows well with everything, like they were meant to be. Personally, I wouldnt put them on my SG for anything...

12 inch halfmoon from Clarks Custom Windshields got rid of most of the buffeting.

Several guys with SG said they found adding lowers to be the only solution, yet most utlra guys are dealing with the same issue it seems. I've tried stock, 6" (no recurve) 10.5" Xstream. I'm 5' 10" 30-31" inseam, using a stock seat. The 6" got me up to about 50mph, and the 10.5" got me up to about 55mph before buffeting begins. I like to do 70-75 mph on the highway.

My previous ride was a Steet bob and amazingly a full sized HD quick detach windshield was all it took.

Dont get me wrong buffeting for me means blurred vision and a rattled brain, so I would say I'm not being overly picky.

Does anyone really have the solution? Please help!
Have to be careful here with our choice of words. There are those here that think we don't know what the word buffeting means. I would like to call them the "Dictionary Dude" but that may not be the correct choice of words either. It's difficult to describe this phenomenon on a scooter.

The only real complaints I've read about buffeting come from riders who use full face helmets. They don't seem to go with the windshields too well.
