Default do fender light and turn signals have a relationship?

07 flhp. i recently removed my rear fender bmper and light and simply put a RK classic, non lighted fender shirt on. i simply cut the wires, didnt do anything else but tape the up so the wouldnt touch anything.

this morning discovered that my left turn signals are not working in the front or rear. now i'm not really sure if they were working prior, but i am just trying to cover all bases. think the circuit needs to be closed in order for the left signals to work? the hazards/flashers dont work on the left side either. a red code key is showing on the speedo.

dealer says it could be TSM and wants me to bring it in.

thoughts?

thx -tin

The first thing I would do is splice the light back in and see if it corrects the problem.

The second thing I would do would be to remove the tailight and check all the plugs behind it.

I would think that you should be able to remove it without a problem, but I would have just unplugged it and not cut it.

couldnt unplug it at the fender as it was directly wired. was too lazy to take off taillight... i know. now i may have to. the problem may have been there before and i just didnt notice it. just got the bike. i thought i checked the turn signals when i rode it home and if one didnt work it would have registered. maybe.

Could be a burned out bulb. If one burns it usually shuts down the other on the same side.

I just did this on my bike. All you had to do was remove tail lamp, unplug the far left wire going down the inside of rear fender and that was it, besides taking fender lamp off.

Do fender light and turn signals have a relationship? Yes but it isn't exclusive as the slutty turn signals are still seeing that stud headlight every night!

So you were to lazy to remove 2 screws to do it right, so you reached under the fender with side cutters and sniped at wires and now your turn signals dont work?

The fender tip lamp runs off the acc. circuit the turn signals run off a different circuit. But the wires you cut are a hot any time the key is on and a ground, side by side, temporarily taped inside the fender?

Thats a short waiting to happen!

Pull the tail light and disconnect the tip wire it takes far less time to do it right than it did for you to type the questions you asked here!

I was going to say that's where all the little instrument lights come from, but yours is better!
