Default Does the klock werks windshield solve the buffiting on the Street Glide?

I have taken some heat for complaining about the wind buffiting with the OEM windshield on the Street Glide. I really enjoy the Road King without the windshield and ride 75% without it. I love the wind but dislike the turbulance that I get (my height 6-0) on the Street Glide. My dealer says that the klock werks windshield will solve the turbulance. Is this true?.......Will this take away the wind effect totally?

I'd like to know the best solution for buffeting myself. I am also right at 6' and would love to figure out the right height/recurve to make things a little more calm while cruising. I don't think it's that bad at all, but it could always be better :-)

Never had one on my SG, but did put the 12" on my new RG.

It makes the buffeting worse if you ask me. Sure, it's better than the 5" stock P.O.S. that comes on the '10 FLTRX Customs, but I'm 6' and it puts the wind right into my forehead. Add a full face helmet into the mix and I get whiplash on windy days, not to mention all the noise generated by the shield + ff helm.

I'm sure this didn't answer your question, but just offering an opinion. I don't think the KW shield is worth the $$ and certainly doesn't live up to the hype in my book.

I have the Long Ride 7" X-Streme windshield on my Street Glide and love it! No buffeting and I lower the radio volume about one third and can hear it just as good, maybe better.

Sorry to hear you had to "take some heat" for complaining of buffeting on your SG.

In my opinion, most that don't complain, or get defensive have not ever ridden a bike with good wind management. No HD falls in to that category. Even Ultra Classics have crappy wind management. There's too much air updraft coming from below the batwing and above the lowers.

The KW 6.5" shield did help my SG some, but what made an equal difference was the $12 wind deflector that goes between the fork legs. You can also choose the chrome one for $25. I also added the adjustable wind deflectors.

Even with all that, as soon as I switched to a Road Glide seat, the buffeting was unbearable. I'm 5'10" with a 30" inseam, and the seat raised me right in to the turbulent zone.

I have given up wearing a full-face helmet. My vision just gets to blurry. I now use a DOT 1/2 helmet which seems to work a lot better for me.

My final solution for wind management (after trying 4 windshields, including a SE Ultra shield which I have for sale and works well) was to install a 8" Windvest windshield. It's similar to a Clearview with Recurve, Long Ride Shield flip-up, whatever. The Windvest, adjustable wings and fork wind deflector have combined to make the buffeting tolerable for me at any speed. Yes, there's a little turbulence, but it doesn't blur my vision or rattle my teeth.

I think a 8.5" KW shield would accomplish the same, plus make the front end feel more stable (like my 6.5" did) but I didn't want to spend the money, and I do not like the look. I think the LRS shields have a better shape (at least up to 8").

My pre-coffee $0.02...

I'm 6' also and for me it takes a 9 1/2" recurve from Clearview.

But I do know some 6' guys that like the 6 1/2" Klock Werks.
They do say the wind does hit them in the forehead though with it. Good luck, because I've tried at least 10 windshields.

I don't have a Street Glide yet but test rode one last Monday. I like the wind, just not the buffeting. Great comments guys! Trying to learn without spending a ton of money trying several.

I'm 6' and I feel like It would just take a couple more inches to get me clear I'm hoping. Is there a good way to determine for sure without buying a bunch of screens of different heights? I wear a full-face helmet also.

I just got a 9 inch Clarks Custom windshields halfmoon flattop. It stopped the buffeting for me. I'm 6'1", I've got a lowered seat that drops me about 2 inches.

I have a 2006 FLHX and I am also 6 foot. I do not know what you mean by "beffeting" but the wind off the stock shield casued the wind to hit me directly on the nose...hard to keep sun glasses on. It was a PITA.

I got the 8 inch recurve from Clearview....best thing I have done to the bike. Looks great and the wind goes over the head and doesn't try to rip my glasses off.
