Good mod, I gaurantee you will not have another broken fairing bracket, barring a crash.

I have been running the Klockwerks 6 1/2" for almost 2 years on my 09 Street Glide. I love it even in the winter. Air hits me right at the lower front of my helmet but not enough to be uncomfortable. I smoke and light a cig wile riding with no problem without the cig blowing to pieces. I like some air as I came from a Dyna and did not want to be totally behind a windshield. The only draw back is the 3 bag t-bag will not work with it. I am considering getting the LRS 8" Ultra for the bags and will probably still aternate between the 2. I only need the bags on the really long rides.

100% I am only 5'6'' and the 6.5 is perfect. Any more than a few inches taller and I would recommend the 8.5-however I think the recurve on that big a shield looks silly.

Is this true?.......Will this take away the wind effect totally?
I am 6-1 and ride a 08 FLHX and had a 6 1/2" HD shield on it from the start.....sucked for buffeting. Then tried a 10" HD shield on it....still sucked. Didn't want to go any taller as I want my StreetGlide to look like a StreetGlide not an Ultra. So I ended up with a 7" Freedom Shield in the dark tint. Success, buffeting is reduced by 90% and my bike still looks like I want, all this for under 100 dollars.

Did the following mods to my '07 SG. Not all done to reduce wind, just happened to make a difference. 5'8"
Lowered seat for the short inseam. I sit in the Bike now. Still see over the top of the screen.
Installed and modified a Headwinds Spotlight light bar which acts like the HD baffle in the forks.
After adding above and hitting Fender on bump, lowered Fender 1". Noticed reduced air coming up from below after lowering.
KW 6 1/2".
All of the above showed improvement. All together.....happiness.
Half helmet and Full Face, depending on what type of Riding I am doing.
Best real world test.......torrential rain on the Interstate, Full Face Visor = clear. I mean a couple of drops hit now and again and thats it. You can see the rain being pushed up and over the KW screen.

Great information everyone. Sures saves a lot of guess work. I guess it's a matter of sticking one on and giving it a try.

I'm 6' and the 6.5 KW works great for me. It's a good blend of SG style with better wind management. It moved the wind from hitting me right in the eyes from the stock windscreen to the top of my head. For me it doesn't bother me. If I wanted more protection I would have went with a taller KW. I wanted to retain a the stock look as much as possible while still getting better wind protection. YMMV.

I have an Ultra Limited, I hated the stock shield because I had to look through it, I do not like looking through a wind shield just personal preference. I'm 6'0 with a 32" inseam, the seat is stock, so is the suspension. My bike came with the adjustable wind deflectors on the fairing, and obviously the lowers. I bought a Klockwerks 8.5" windshield on the cheap from a fellow forum member and I am perfectly happy with it. The wind does catch the top of my fore head, but no big deal, same as with the stock shield on my Road King that I had before. The fairing is much more stable at higher speeds with the Klockwerks as well, and my gas mileage improved believe it or not. I guess I got lucky on the first try. Oh and did I mention that the bike looks a million times better now lol.

You're height plays into it a lot, but so does your seat. If you have a good dealer, they will let you test ride a couple of different shields before you buy something.

Good luck.

I held off on the KW for a long time due to the fact fairing bags don't fit (at least they say they don't). However, my HD 2-Pouch bag does fit under the 6.5", it's just a little scrunched. It works for me though, as I only put my keys, wallet, and iPhone in it. I wish I would have known that sooner, I used a 6.5” HD shield for a long time before getting the KW. Great purchase for me.

Works for me - I'm not one to ride fast; as I love to enjoy the journey; however, when the need arises to pass a truck OR ANY OTHER SLOW OBJECT; and, I take a peek down to see I'm doing 85 - 90; everything is still smooth as glass; no buffeting. SWEET!
8 1/2 INCH KLOCKWERKS - Love it
