08 Street Glide seat question

08 Street Glide seat question
I just got my first Harley, a '08 Street Glide, and am looking to get a seat with a bit more cushion for myself and my passenger for long trips. I have read that people will often use a seat from one of the other touring models as a low cost solution for this.
My question is what years and models of seats should I be looking for?
Thanks,
Craig

Save yourself a few bucks and help a brother out. Not my seat by the way.

the streetglide seats look nice, but are very uncomfortable even before it's time to stop for fuel. i bought an 09 roadglide seat from a fellow forum member about a year ago, and i still know i made the right choice. 08 and up will fit your bike, they're not dorky looking like some other harley seats, and the stitching even lines up perfectly with your tank console. i've also got an 08 streetglide, and swapping out the seat for the roadglide seat was not an expensive mod, but it sure increased comfort for me, and for my passenger also. i found my roadglide seat in the harley davidson forums classifieds section, touring, by the way. i hope this information helped.

As you discovered, the SG seat is less than comfortable, especially for the passenger. When we picked up our 08 SG, some mix up at the dealer caused them to 'forget' to install the backrest, and due to some serious back issues for my wife, she was almost unable to make it home (we are only 80 miles from the dealer). We have since replaced the seat with one from an Ultra I bought on eBay. While this was much more comfortable (for both of us), it wasn't perfect. I sent it down to Mean City Cycles for a redo, and WOW, the seat is incredibly comfortable! Two up, we have done a few 400 mile days (wife can't really ride much farther) and I have done a few 700 mile+ rides solo.
As some have suggested, the RG seat does fit, and is more comfortable than the stock SG seat. Riding buddy has an 08 RG, and we swapped seats (his stocker and my Ultra seat, both before and after MCC mods) and after riding the RG with the Ultra seat, he bought one and sent it out to MCC.
While the stock SG and RG seats look 'cool', they were not really comfortable for me. And some think the Ultra seat is ugly, or bulky, but comfort trumps 'cool' for me when it comes to a long day in the saddle.
Just my opinion

I had a local upholstery specialist pull the trim down the softy-cushy open-celled crap in the stock seat down about an inch and add an inch of high-density closed-cell foam underneath it -- Making it far and away the most comfortable seat I've ever had on any bike.
And as a bonus, it kept those sexy SG lines intact.
