Default Another cam tensioner cure?

Just curious, not all tha mechanically inclined so excuse me if the answer is obvious, but why hasn't someone just made a cam tensioner out of a more durable material, and a smoother chain for the pre 07 tc motorsthat will fit them, yet still use the springs instead of hydraulic. Sdeems like it would be cheap and an easy install. Might not be the best, but better than what's in there now. And it seems to me that they still haven't changed the material on the newer ones, as I've still seen reports of some pretty decent wear in a relatively short amount of time. Just curious.

The new hydraulic tensioner system is regarded as a "permanent fix", so as long as you're in there, you might as well do it right. If you really like the spring tensioners, you can replace those every 40K miles or so. The 40K figure assumes the chains are burnished and you're running clean oil. YMMV BTW, the old Morse or "silent" chains don't feel like much when you handle one with 40K miles on it. You've got choices here, so what's not to like?
