I use heated gear ( have been for 20 yrs) when I want to get out in the winter.
I got out this morning and rode the French Broad river up into seven islands, Old Sevierville pke to Brown mtn ,martin mill pke back martin mill pke, to another section of Sevierville pke then home. Probably 30 miles of bliss. What I call Electra Glide roads. It was about 70 degrees, T-shirt, jean jacket, DAMN what a ride! Just a drift around - ya know. Sorry for goin on but I just got a new '09 ULTRA ( last aug) and just can't get enough. Glad to hear ya'll like it around here.
It's funny, here in Teaxs we drive 140 miles one way in 103 degree heat, for a Cheese Burger.
To each his own. lol

I've driven through Kansas on I-70 and I only remember 2 curves (Topeka and Oakley) in 380 miles.

Been there, Done that on my '09 Ultra. Took my time and focused the whole time. Had a blast. One thing that puzzles me is that why do riders have to "race" on those curvy roads and crash their bikes. I just plain don't understand and visited that "Shame - No gain - No pain" tree loaded with motorcycle parts, helmets, gloves and boots along with notes for those who died.

Yeah, Cherohala, Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline...Those were the most awesome roads I enjoyed riding on my way back home.

Where are those 11 curves in Kansas,,,I live hear and I am still hunting for them. While there are few curves hear there are also no traffic jams and bumper to bumper stuff,,,I like that.

I just read on another forum that the Dragon is closed due to a rockslide last month. Supposed to be closed until August or September?? I rode it last June on my Ultra and had a great time. My buddy rode it in July and then went on to the Cherahala where he went down in some gravel....said he was OK except for some road rash on his chin and elbow....until the bike behind him ran him over and broke five ribs!!!

Rode the dragon for the first time last year. My sig other thought it was really pretty. All I could see were trees, asphalt, corners and crotch rockets trying to get by.

I also made the mistake of saying that "I would have to do it by myself sometime so I can have fun". That didn't go over well. I just meant the extra life that I had to worry about with her 120 lbs, but you guys understand. She didn't.
