I have run the E3's for a couple of years and get 14,000 to 16,000 out of the rears and change the front every other rear. I have had some cupping but only in the two or three thousand miles.

Default Elite 3's

I have been reading this forum and everybody really likes the E3"s everybody is getting 12,13,14. thousand miles on the rear, One guy said he got 20.000. I just put on both the front and back. I'm happy so far with them. Now I read this thread and nobody is getting near the miles I thought I should get out of mine. And the cupping another problem. I just hope the tire turns out to be as good as or better than the 402's

I was the same way and got 11000 miles cupped but the overall performance of the tire was better and i will try another one after this K491.

I'm running 40 PSI front and rear....
got 23k on the last front tire...."only" 11 on the last rear the rear.... I ordered a pair from Jake Wilson, and figured I may as well mount both of them while I was at it.
Almost 9 k on the set, both look good

Check this out . . .

just over 7K on this rear tire. I've been religious about air pressure at 42PSI riding 2up all the time. You can see the severe cupping in the photo. The bike has been feeling loose in the corners for a couple months now. Getting worse all the time. Stupid me, finally took a very close look at the rear tire. Here it is . . .

That's exactly how my last 2 rears have done. Bike feels okay in the turns when 2-up, but loose and twitchy when riding solo. I've got other issues contributing to the twitchness, but the tire is part of it as well.

I am on my 2 nd set of E3s and have had some of the same issues as the rest of you..I will continue with the E3s how ever because I get what I feel is good mileage 9000 on the rear..I am not a tire expert but this cupping issue on the rear..is it just a characteristic of the way that the tire wears..I guess what Im trying to get across if you ride and wear on the center of the tire of course it will not wear even..

I think it's a characteristic of how well the tire grips the road.
