Default Warning to all

Saturday I was riding up in PA and saw 1 accident and just missed being involved in another.
1st. A group of about 6 guys were riding on Route 434 appraching the intersection of Route 6 in Greeley,PA when the first 5 bikes when on through the intersection. The last bike trying to catch up went right through a stop sign and T-Boned a car. Rider had NO HELMET and from what I hear DIED on the Spot.
2nd. I just pulled away after stopponng a a stop sign with my 14Yr old daughter on the back. I went about 4 blocks to Baer HD when i saw a bunch of Staff flying out of there on bikes. I was like what the hell happened. Turns out a few bikes who were riding behind me. 1 stopped for a stop sign when a car behind him not paying attention blasted him in the back. Bike was about 1 Hr Old. Rider was shaken up and went in ambulance but I heard he was more pissed off with his bike damaged then with his broken leg. BE CAREFUL out there its getting worse and worse. And for GODS sake WEAR A HELMET!!!

Goes to show you need to pay attention in ALL directions around you and assume you are not seen.

Yeah, its bad enough that the cages are trying to kill us but when we do stupid stuff (I'm guilty many times over, just lucky). This time of year the first few warm weekends you see lots of wrecks, especially in groups. Ride safe!

You can go on and on, from cells, texting, young drivers, older folks, children in the car, speed. At least in this state there seems to be less to no emphasis on defensive, safe auto driving. Less police enforcement and a justification for inaction because death rates are lower. Never mind that the cost of gas is keeping people off the roads.
Ride with your head on a swivel and while being relaxed and enjoying the ride remember every car/truck and every intersection is a point of danger.

When I am in a group ride and we want to all get through an intersection together we typically have a blocker. Most people are usually very courteous and allow us through. Sorry about the death and that sucks. Were I the guy with the new bike or any bike I would feel the same way.

Agree. By my area there is little to no Police monitoring because of the small town. Even still we have to pay attention. In the wreck where the bike T=Boned the car. The authorities are insisting a helmet would have saved his life. You cant prove that for sure, but I know I always wear a helmet because my face and head is just to pretty to mess up. LOL

I've been on 2 longer rides this year, one about 1300 miles and the other about 120. On both rides we had a motorcycle hitting another motorcycle totaling both bikes. The second one involved 2 very experienced riders and resulted in a fatality. BE AWARE AND BE CAREFUL!

That's not courtesy, it's fear. Most people wouldn't dare tell a group of bikers what they can't do.

As you approach an intersection, or a car is waiting to pull out into your lane, give a quick blast of the horn. Just one more thing to get their attention...

Even with a blocker you have to be careful. Also the blocker must be at an angle to move quick if he has to. Last year the blocker got the attention of the on coming car and he stopped but the guy behind him wasn't expecting the stop and slammed on his brakes and shot around the 1st guy.
Our blocker had to move fast to avoid getting ran over. Never block with your bike 90* across the lane but more in line with the lane so you can book when needed...
