Default Elite 3s in the rain

I rode my bike, Saturday, in a pouring rain. I had Dunlop Elite3s installed last winter and wasn't sure how good they would do in the rain. I had to stop fast as a stop light changed on me at the last second. I always apply the rear brake a fraction of a second before the front brake to settle the bikes suspension. When I applied the rear brake, firmly, the ABS released the rear brake as the rear tire was about to skid and then re-applied the rear brake immediately. I applied the front brake just a fraction of a second after the rear and it, along with the rear brake, brought the bike to a halt RIGHT NOW! I was very impressed with the tires in the wet as it had just started raining after a long dry spell and the oil on the road had not completely washed off. I also thought, I'll never buy a new bike without ABS.

You are correct on the Elite 3's. For my 09 I will put on the American Elites. Basicly same tire with the name changed up.

This might start up the ABS debate again though!! LOL

I don't care about the ABS debate... it has saved my bacon a couple of times so debate away.

I'm almost at 20k on my first E3 rear and it is still stable, wet or dry. It has about 2/32" remaining, which should take it another 2k or so, but I may change it out before that. No issues yet except one little shimmy one day in summer of '08 when I hit a painted lane-separator strip in a wet corner at low speed while accelerating (dumb), but that was brief and mostly a pucker-up experience. Last May in the Smokies my confidence grew when most of our rides on the Parkway were in the rain. How Dunlop can make a tire that performs better and last twice as long as another model in their own line-up (D402) is beyond me. It makes my wonder why they even make the D402 anymore.
