Default rear frame covers

I just took off my chrome frame covers when I installed a sissy bar and mounting hardware. Any reason to keep them on? I am thinking about powder coating them black if they need to be on but I do have better ways to spend that money if these covers are not needed. I am happy with the way the frame looks. What you all think?

I say coat them black and put them back on. It looks like it's missing something without them. I had a guy coat mine for $20
