Tell you what, if I ever did this it would be with the gauge pack like you did, never cared for the mega speaker fairings.
I think you missed the part where I can strip it down to look like a SG, not back to the RK look. The batwing is permanent mount, not quick detach. Although, I did make my harness quick disconnect, it's not for any other reason but to service the front end like any other fairing bike is set up.

It's a nice blend of all aspects of the touring bikes, little bit of RK, RKC, and the FLHT's.

Back at ya, WHY NOT? I wanted a fairing bike; didn't feel like taking in the shorts on mine and dropping $20+ on a new Ultra, so I made my own. So far, I'm into it less than $2K for the whole conversion. Just made sense to me.

I would not have thought just selling the RK and getting an Ultra would have been the more expensive route. The tour pack and lowers alone are close to $2500 not to mention the hard bags and fairing. I admire your grit.

Jonny, it's lookin great, mine will be done this week, I've run the wire from the new oil sending unit, ran into a roadblock for the socket for the two different sizes on the oil sending unit. OH! while it's down, I switched my main fuse from a 40 amp to a 50, they only cost about $6. I'm keeping my roadking signs on the front fender.
Will send pics too, Did you put a chrome spacer between your spoke wheels and the rotor on the front end? I'm changing the wheels this week too, and might as well put those on while the wheel is off.

I'm also leaning toward Hertz 4" speakers to put in the speedo/tach holes. Any input is much appreciated, at this point. But I need to get a system ordered ASAP, cause I am sooooo close to the finish. Here's a few pics for now, but I will have a full write up on the conversion in a few weeks, when it's all complete.

Found your thread Jonny. Your bike is looking nice. Your wiring job looks really clean. Well done. I did my fair share of wiring as a mechanic for 20 years so I know a good job when I see one.

I just finished my Winter mods on my bike. Added a driver/rider intercom as well as a bunch of chrome. The intercom finished my "Ultra" Road Glide. I know have everything except for the CB.

Just looked outside at the weather and I think I'll go for a short test ride.

Let me know when you're free for a day ride. I'll come down and meet up with you in Woodland.

BTW, I just installed J&M 7 1/4 inch speakers and they ROCK compared to the Hogtunes speakers I had. I have a Hogtunes amp driving them.

Yeah, start another thread, you'll probably get more responses.

That is a great looking build. I have thought about doing something similar with my own, but thought that it would be too expensive. I am in about the same boat with you. I owe about 8K on my bike and would rather not make that 20K+.

I see you said you have about 2K into the build thus far. Just wondering if you bought used or aftermarket parts. I have seem some good deals online, but nothing I have wanted to jump on yet.

Again, great looking build, and I am sure it will ride amazing.
