01 RG. The black stock paint is starting to wear off pretty bad on my innner fairing. I see new inner fairing could cost as much as $700-1000. Has anyone ever painted one on there own. Pics? Any ideas on what to do?

Don't know where HDFLHX got his done but around the Mid West that is very high. I have a painter , considered the best around here that will spray it for me for $200. That is with me removing and re-installing. For $525 (does not include labor ) you can buy a Harley painted inner and get a warranty with it. JMHO

Has anyone used any kind of gasket material between the small gauges and the inner? Kind of surprised there isn't any. Just wondering...........

I too just had mine painted black, base coat clear coat and color sanded, for that no orange peal look. Cost was $150. I removed and reinstalled. I also photoed and printed on 8 1/2 x 11 pictures more for wire routing than anything else. I marked all of the gauge wiring with tape at removal. I had my wife help hold the painted fairing until I had the fairing brackets attached. Looks "rich" with a painted dash.
