Default 09 and newer tire options

I'm planning to replace my rear on my 09 FLHR for the second time. When I replaced it the first time at 15,000 Dunlop was the only option. Only got about 8,000 out of the rear the second time around. Is there any other options now available for the 09 and newer bikes? If so what has been your experience? What are the approximate prices? Not happy about getting only 8,000 out of the second Dunlop, and yes I stay on top of my tire pressures.

I'm looking for one for my 2009 FLTR too. I will be replacing within the next month and hope to get better mileage and away from the Dunlop.

Isn't Metzler making tires for the 09 and later?

This will be my choice when time comes. just not sure they are available, This site looks like they have them unless they are selling something they don't have yet.

Wonder why the mileage difference? Must be a softer compound, I got 16.5K out of the original and assumed the 2nd would be the same

Better call before you order. I ordered a rear American Elite from that site a month or so ago. A week later I still hadn't got a shipping notification from them, so I called. They told me at the time that tire would not be in stock till fall of 2011.

I'm sure that time frame couldn't be correct....but they didn't have it in stock none the less. Also ordered it from JP Cycles after that and had a similar experience.

Best to call around and see what you find.

As for Metzler....they will be making an ME880 in the stock 09+ tires sizes, but it was not available as of last month either. I ended up going with another stock dunlop in hopes that the new tires would be out by the next time I need one.

If not, it will be a car tire for me next time.
