Being that they have told you that the add on's don't matter, I'd start pulling everything off and puting your OEM stuff back on (if you saved it) including the the slipon's, Fuel Pak and Air Kit. All that stuff adds up and can be used on the new ride or sold for new ride goodies.

My other advice would be to forget the negotiating. Figure out a fair deal that you can live with and make a non negotiable offer.

I think that this old thread by scubadog offers some great advice. Good Luck!!

2009 FLHTCU Ultra Classic Electra Glide

List Price: $20999 BLACK
List Price: $21529 COLOR
List Price: $21959 2-TONE
List Price: $22159 CUSTOM

Dealer Invoice: $16799 BLACK
Dealer Invoice: $17223 COLOR
Dealer Invoice: $17567 2-TONE
Dealer Invoice: $17727 CUSTOM

These are the base dealer costs before actual freight and assembly costs.

Freight Cost: $375 (48 states and Alaska only)

Estimated Assembly Cost: $125-$140
Each dealership has its own method of figuring their actual cost of assembly and preparation for sale.
There is no reimbursement by the factory for this cost to the dealer.

Ready to sell cost: $17299 BLACK
Ready to sell cost: $17723 COLOR
Ready to sell cost: $18067 2-TONE
Ready to sell cost: $18227 CUSTOM

California Emission Charge - Invoice / List Price - $160 / $200

Wholesale Incentives: no dealer holdback or sales incentives for this model.

Factory Options: cost / retail
H-D Factory Security System - $276 / $345
Wheel Option - $360 / $450
ABS - $636 / $795

The "Ready to sell cost" is the cost of the machine sitting on the showroom floor with NO PROFIT to a dealer. Dealers do not stay in business very long by selling machines for no profit.

Many dealers charge additional fees for "Freight and Setup" over and above the selling price of the machine. Add the "Selling Price" to the "Freight and Setup" charges and subtract the "Ready to sell cost" to determine the PROFIT a dealer is asking to make. Dealers in most states are required to collect sales tax and title fees for the state. These fees are not profit to a dealer.

Thanks very much for the info! My friend called back and tole me that the dealer he is on WC from will do MSRP plus a $1000 gift card and will give me $500 more for my trade in. He told me to pull off what I wanted and to sell it on Ebay, so the tourpak and the saddlebag guards are already listed. The nostaglic backrest and the fairing are going on next. It looks like I will be having a roadtrip Tuesday morning and a new Ultra by Tuesday afternoon!
