Why isn't 255s in 09 a good choice?

I have no idea if there is something different between 8's and 9's. I put 'em in my 10 and it runs about the same as my 8 did with the same setup...in fact..they seem to be better and I didn't have to do a tuner this time. I think it is because the maps (for the 10's anyway) are a bit richer due to the cat in the headers.

Did the gearing change happen in '09 or '10? Maybe that's what they are talking about. Better low end gearing allows the use of a more mid-range cam. 255's bring on the torque real early compared to other cams and that is nice if your low gear is tall like in the '07 and '08 models. Nothing wrong with the 255 if it fits your riding style.

I believe there is a minor change in the gear ratio between the 08 and 09 models. I have a 2008 Ultra and did a 103 with 255’s. I love them and feel that they perform well in the rpm range that I ride. My peak torque is at 3900 rpms while I do not normally ride fast, I am running about 3200 rpms at 90 mph. Unless you are looking for more torque at higher rpms, I think you will be pleased with them.
