Default Had PC-V intalled tach stops at about 5500

Hey guys I need a quick answer, im going to the dealer soon. I just had a PC-V put on my 2008 SG and the tach stops short of the Rev limiter at I think around 5500. I know I have seen what the problem is but searched and cant find it. What do I tell the stealer they need to do.

Thanks,
Steve

you need to do nothing if you have the rev extend on. your bike will rev to 6500 with it on. The tach will always stop at 5500 even with this feature enabled. and if you dont have it enabled just hook the computer up to the pcv and there is a pulldown tab and you just turn it on.

If the ECU has not had a stage 1 download, it will prevent the tach from showing any higher than the original 5500 redline.

i have the stage 1 download with the PCV. If the REV ext is selected, the RPM gauge will show 6500rpm, but if i do not have the REV EXTD selected it will max out at about 5500rpm... i think i read that if you have the rev EXTD selected the PCV will let engine rev to 6500RPM but the tach will not let u see this unless you do have the stage 1 download as mentioned. Jamie replied to this few months back.

I also have the PC-V and my rev limiter stops the RPMs at 5500 if yours continues to rev up to 6500 then you have the limiter changed but the tach will stop at 5500. I had a post on here and Jamie from FM explained how to change the rev limiter if yours stops at 5500 like mine does.

When Jamie told me I thought the same thing. It is what it is. From what I understand the SE tune will fix that but I'm not sure you can run that tune and the PC-V at the same time. PLUS who wants to pay that money to the dealer just to have the tach go up another 1000 RPMs.

Just run it tell it hits the rev limiter then shift. Shouldn't hurt it. That is what rev limiter are for.

So what did you do? I would love to see my tach show the actual revs without the HD download.

I have the PCV from FM w/o the HD download so mine stops at 5500rpms as well.

I have Rev extend on so I guess I'm getting the higher revs...

Dave
