Yep,sometimes the dealer's miss stuff during the PDI.The fuel gauge on my '06 RG was stuck on "e" and fairing bolts were loose.

My advice to you Driftin Texas is to get a service manual and check your bike over.I would check all the bolts, oil levels, etc.

I would take the bike back to the stealership to have the electrical problem fixed.

And my HIWAY mpg dropped from 45 (stock) to 35 after a PCIII, Stage 1 SE AC, Rush pipes and a custom dealer dyno. Much better performance but at quite a price IMHO.

Dealer says it was my riding style - so I ride like a 100 year old granny for a few tanks and it goes up to 36 mpg. BFD. Gotta cut thru alot of BS with them.

dchoran, looks like you and I started out with the same bikes. I added PCIII, Ness Billet Sucker, and Bassani Road Rage myself. Downloaded the closest map I could find. Mileage dropped from 45 to 39. Had my $tealer install big bore, heads and SE 204 cams. They downloaded the closed map they could find. Mileage dropped to 36. After I broke it in, they dynoed it. HP, Torque, and MPG all went up. Getting about 40 now and I don't ride like granny. What I'm getting at is I think maybe you should find someone else to dyno and redo your map. Preferably a Dynojet Approved Power Commander Tuning Centers with Tuning Link software. I think you'll see an improvement.

Hmmm.. Well this probably isn't relevant at all, because mine is a '95. But my tourpack lights are running AND brake lights. It also has an add-on LED (bright) strip in the middle that functions the same as well.

Problem resolved. The power wire (blue wire) on the main wire harness going from the bike into the tour pak was shorting out on the metal plate on the inside bottom of the tour pak. There was bare wire but no broken strands so I let them but heat shrink over it. For now all is well, except for the radio, it’s still a piece of junk.

What is the problem with your radio? That is the one area that I am totaly satisfied with on my 07 Ultra. A friend said I would not like it and I did hear his. It sounded tinny in his headset on his 06 but mine sounds really good. I also like it showing the name of the tune and the artist on the screen. Now that impresses a tech challenged person like me. Now all I got to do is figure out all the controls without looking at the manual which is hard to do riding down the road.

What is the problem with your radio?
It started just a few days after picking up my new Ultra. I finally decided to play a CD. Long story short it would never play a CD. It would insert and eject and that was it. I took it back to the dealer and they flashed the firmware. I laughed when the tech walked up with a CD in his hand to flash the firmware. I asked him if it doesn't read a CD how do you think it's going to read that?

He put it in daig mode and the display showed insert CD. He inserted the CD and display continued to show insert CD. He tried to eject it and it wouldn't eject. He finally disconnected the main power to the bike and let it sit of 5 minutes. When he connected the power back the unit started reading the CD and it flashed the firmware. I was getting a little excited.

At the end of the flash the CD ejected and the radio started playing a radio station. The tech asked me if I had a music CD which I did. I nserted it and the radio quit playing and now the CD cannot be ejected and none of the buttons on the CD player work. If tried disconnecting the power and reconnecting it but nothing happens.

The dealer has ordered a new stereo which should that two weeks to come in but till then I have a stereo that only shows a radio station numbers and the wrong time on the clock and nothing else.
