Why not a potato sounding idle?

Why not a potato sounding idle?
I bought a 98 Road King last sept 09, fuel injected and a nice bike, but... I always liked the uneven rumble at idle on the carbed bikes. Did HD do something other than the fuel injection addition to make a very even sounding idle? There are no mods on the engine, but sure wish I had the old rumbling potato sound at idle. Any suggestions?
Thanks

it's because your bike is fuel injected rather than carbed. if it had a carb you would be able to adjust the idle. problem with that is that if it's idling too slow, your oil pump will not be pushing enough oil through the motor. it also had to do with the twin fire vs single fire ignition also. yours is an evo, so if there were a way to drop the idle and had something other than stock exhaust yours could have that sound.

I really do like that sound leohd, just not too crisp running it up though, but that is the sound I would really like to hear from my bike. So let me ask this then. If I had true dual pipes, getting rid of the mostly out the right exhaust system, and managed to get the idle down, I could get that uneven idle that sounds so good? Or is it more than that? Can I get that with fuel injection and the twin fire ignition?
Thanks so far for the lessons of this package I have with my bike,

I had no idea a 98 RK was fuel injected. That stuff is too complicated for me... Here's my 87. Could probably use a tune-up but.....you be the judge.
