Default How do you pack a bike with two sleeping bags, a tent, two pads, and all the other st

Me and my wife would like to take a long trip on my bike. All the time before we would stay in a hotel and not have to worry about sleeping bags and a tent. Now that I lost my job (well I did not lose my job it is not there any more they closed) I would like to stay in camp grounds. Does anybody have some picks or advice on how to pack a bike for two people to camp on a road king?

Pointing you twoards a 8k trailer/camper seems kind of rediculous. there are lots of sites if your search on that kind of thing.

If it was me, I'd get a big t-Bag to fit on the back of the bike and pack as much in that and the saddlebags for you and the Mrs. and then buy a small trailer to carry the tent, sleepingbags and bulky items.

Last season I was camping with my kids and a guy pulled in on an RK with that setup. He unloaded the RK, and the trailer , set up camp and then grabbed his girl and went riding for most of the day. Came back later that afternoon to make dinner, a fire and sleep.

It was a good solid setup and did not look to cost an arm and a leg.

Ubreal.....can't tell if you have a luggage rack in your pic, but to safely pack
your gear you would best have one.
Tent, sleeping bags and pads could easily be packed on a rack.
Your wife would get one saddlebag and you the other for personals.
Just remember, everything you need can be bought on your trip.
Also, you can ship stuff to your destination and return ship stuff back home.

Less is more. Try a windsheild bag, the three pouch type.

Then put your Amex, Visa and a good gas card in them!

I don't think it's safely possible to pack that much on any Harley, IMO the only "safe" way would be to get a trailer. I'm sure somebody has gotten all that stuff on, but if your two-up & add that much stuff you're either going to be overloaded or have so much weight up high that it's just an accident waiting to happen. One-up would be a different matter.

I reccomend you spend some time at the following link. You'll get a lot of good info for motorcycle camping...

Yes, as others suggest, definitely research a good quality bike trailer that will fit the camping gear. You'll still get the wind in your face & added storage to bring all the supplies.

Default Trailer

I had the same problem. Not enough room for two people with camping gear. I picked up a used small trailer for $500. Holds everything I need for camping, even two chairs & cooler. I don't even know its back there after you get moving. I notice it at take off, lower gas mileage, braking, and parking. Nothing you can not handle. The wife can take anything she needs & she is 'HAPPY'. Enough said !
