Default Brake job - any tips or tricks?

Coming up on time to do my first brake job, on an 09 ultra - no abs.

I've read the service manual, it seems pretty straight forward, but like any job, there's probably a tip or trick to make it even easier. Just seeing what you guys have to say...

For what it's worth, i'm pretty impressed all 6 pads seem to be wearing evenly. I've got 13k on them, probably have to do the job in the next 1 to 1.5k. I come from the world of suzuki intruders, and them things ate pads for breakfast, so i'm happy with the mileage...what do you guys get on a set of pads?

Thanks for all the replies!

More than 13k. I swapped mine out at around 25k.

For what it's worth, I had a bad experience with Lydall Z pads polishing my rear rotor and making it squeal. Not saying everyone has this problem but, I did. Went back to stock Brembo pads and no squeal.

Hey Gordo it's me rip If ya do need to change your pads (I got about 20,000 out of mine) go with the Lyndall Gold pads cost more But last longer and have a lot less dust. just my 02 check ebay for price.

Wow never heard that before I've had good results with them. Funny how stuff like that goes.

I should have taken a picture of my rotor before and after to show. My rotor looked like it had been polished with the Lydalls, squealing like a freight train and after the Brembo pads they went back to how they should look. Disappointed

I have lyndall z pads on the rear of my 08UC and don't like them. I really have to stomp on them to get the same braking power i had with the stock pads. Going back to stock pads as soon as i get time to. A waste of money to me. Stick with stock.
