Had a friends dually act the same way, it was his injectors...now there was a recall on some of them, have them check that out, his were covered under warranty and his truck was out of warranty...just some FYI.

Your diesel might be the Cam Position Sensor. Mine did the same thing. I changed it out myself around 40 bucks, and then got a letter from ford saying there is a recall on the truck to change it out. Mine went out about a month too early! You might want to ask about that?
