Default Redline Shockproof Heavy in the tranny

I did the swap from Syn 3 to Redline Shockproof heavy in the transmission like Dawg suggested. WOW what an entirely new silky smooth feel!!!!! It just slips through the gears effortlessly and much more quiter first gear is still the roughest but improved dramatically. I will do it forever now!

I've had good luck with the heavy gear oils I've used, and have now settled on RL SPH. I used Royal Purple 85w140 for a while, which worked as well but costs $4 more per qt. than RL in this area. It has Belray 85w140 in it now simply because of warranty work done on the tranny (mainshaft bearing) and that's the only heavy gear oil the HD shop had in stock. Since it was free I took what they had. It is also working very well, but I'll go back to RL SPH at the next oil change.

I'm still using fossil 20w50 in the primary, which has worked very well--but I'm thinking about changing to ATF Type F after I run out of the Castrol GTX I have on the shelf.

alright... Ill give it a try when I hit 5k, just had the 1k done last week & running Syn3 now. Better than what was in there from factory thats for sure. Ran syn in all 3 holes in my last bike. no probs. But for some reason this tranny seems louder...?
