Would this be good in the 2010s new six speed or is this more for the previous version of the six speed?

Because of a straight cut whine that some complained about they made fifth helical in the 2010s. From what i see some put a heavier gear oil in their gear box to quiet this. Straight and helical don't require the same GL rating. In the new 2010s they say you can or should use GL-1 . I called Amsoil and they said to use the same v-twin 20-50 in the gears as the engine. I was going to use their heavier gear oil 80-90,75-140 in the gears. They said that it was not nessesery to use the GL-4 GL-5 in the 2010s to use the 20-50v-twin motor oil that meets GL-1 in all three holes. So i'm back to the same question. Do some of you use the GL-4-5 heavy gear oils in the new 2010 6 speeds?

I was running Amsoil 20W-50 in the gear box and switched to the Redline Shockproof heavy.

It is quieter, but I didn't notice it shifting better. This gearbox was a good shifter to start with. (I believe the clunk going into first is mostly a clutch thing)

Now if I could find something to quiet the "industrial sewing machine" motor. ;-)

Here is what Redline suggested:

Subject: Trans oil

I asked this question a couple of years ago, but the gears have changed.
In the 2010 HD's the gears changed and now they recommend GL-1. Previously most of us would use Shockproof Heavy in the Transmission. Can we now use the Shockproof Light, which is a little thinner and blue. I know you have several (specialty) motorcycle products. Question is: Can I use/Will the Shockproof Light work as well or better?
Thanks]

Dan,
Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, in your transmission we would still recommend the ShockProof Heavy, also packaged as the V-Twin Transmission Oil.

Regards, Dave
